Another Possible Mechanism of Hypoxemia

چکیده
P ulmonary arteriovenous vascular channels larger than typical pulmonary capillaries have been shown to exist in patients with hepatic cirrhosis.’ These enlarged vessels have been demonstrated by quantitative radionuclide techniques.2 It has been difficult or impossible to otherwise demonstrate them during life or in post-mortem studies.3 These apparently dilated vessels are believed to function as shunts and thereby contribute to the heretofore enigmatic hypoxemia of cirrhosis. The finding of such a mechanism of hypoxemia in cirrhosis patients raises the question of whether such shunts develop in other disease states.4 The hypoxemia ofcirrhosis is often characterized by exercise-aggravation. Exercise-aggravation ofhypoxemia is also typical ofpatients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).6 We studied patients with COPD for the presence of such dilated gas-exchanging vessels.

Study on the possible similar mechanism of ultra low dose-induced hyperalgesia and development of tolerance to analgesia in male rats: an study based on the role of Gs signaling pathway
Introduction: Ultra low dose (ULD) morphine induces hyperalgesia which is mediated by excitatory Gscoupled opioid receptors. This study was designed to investigate the development of tolerance to hyperalgesic effect of morphine. Also we attempt to seek possible similarity, in view of Gs proteins, between hyperalgesic effect of ULD and hyperalgesic effect after tolerance to HD. Method: Male ...

Backgound and Objective: Laryngeal spasm is one of dangerous and urgent complications after tracheal extubation, due to hypoxemia. This event can lead to mortality or complications such as pulmonary aspiration, pulmonary edema, bradycardia and hypoxemia. متن کاملPostoperative Hypoxemia and Oxygen Need in Bakers Compared with Cigarette and Water Pipe Smokers
Background: Hypoxemia is a frequent complication after general anesthesia. It usually takes longer to recover in individuals with respiratory problems. Bakers may suffer from respiratory problems such as asthma. The objective of this study was to compare the occurrence of hypoxemia and duration of supplemental oxygen administration during recovery from general anesthesia in bakers and smokers. ...
متن کاملAlzheimer ’s Disease: Possible Mechanisms Behind Neurohormesis Induced by Exposure to Low Doses of Ionizing Radiation
In 2016, scientists reported that human exposure to low doses of ionizing radiation (CT scans of the brain) might relieve symptoms of both Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and Parkinson disease (PD). The findings were unbelievable for those who were not familiar with neurohormesis. X-ray stimulation of the patient’s adaptive protection systems against neurodegenerative diseases was the mechanism pr...
